A sparkling autumn day. A colorful academic procession. Soaring music. A thoughtful address by our new president. Happy students, faculty, and staff. And everything capped off with a community-wide dinner featuring great food, great music, and great fellowship. The inauguration of Rock Jones, Ohio Wesleyan’s 16th president, had it all. To kick off the week of his inauguration, President Rock Jones cooked his specialty, Pasta Rocca, for students who gathered in the Smith Hall Pantry. Apparently craving home-cooked noodles, students lined up for more than an hour to sample the dish, followed up with the Jones family’s super-secret recipe for chess pie, a smooth and silky southern favorite.

Stimulating. Thought-provoking. Witty. This prestigious forum was a prominent part of inauguration day activities. Moderated by alumnus Dr. Thomas Tritton ’69, president of Chemical Heritage Foundation, the event featured comments by Dr. Douglas Bennett, president of Earlham College; Dr. Elaine Tuttle Hansen, president of Bates College; and Dr. John Churchill, Secretary of Phi Beta Kappa.

The all-community celebration began immediately following the inauguration ceremony and brought together students, faculty, staff, alumni, visitors, parents, and members of the community in a show of support for Ohio Wesleyan and our new president, Rock Jones.
